#4 in Backend & Deploy Platforms
Firebase review (2026)
Mobile apps and Google Cloud users
Our verdict
Firebase is Google's mature app backend with Firestore, authentication, hosting, functions and excellent mobile SDKs, plus AI tooling through Firebase Studio and Gemini. The free Spark plan is generous, and Blaze is pure pay-as-you-go. Its NoSQL data model and Google lock-in make it less portable than Supabase, and usage-based bills can surprise you. Best for mobile-first apps or teams already on Google Cloud.
